Seoul/Korea, - Hankook Tire, the seventh-largest and one of the fastest growing tire companies in the world, announced that it has been selected as a new OE (original equipment) manufacturer for Toyota. From September this year, Hankook Tire is being factory-equipped on Toyota’s micro-premium car iQ.

This is the first time for Hankook Tire to supply tires to Toyota, the world’s top auto company who is well-known for its strict approach to quality control and extraordinarily high demands on the tires. Hankook will supply tires in the dimension 175/65R15 84S, proven to be fitted perfectly for iQ through a series of test phases.

Hankook Tire had been discussing a possible partnership with Toyota over the past years, and has successfully satisfied the criterion in the testing, tuning and customizing process, resulting in a tire that meets the vehicle’s highest standards. The customized tires for the iQ are currently being produced at Hankook’s head plant in Geumsan, South Korea.

We are extremely thrilled to finally support Toyota iQ as original equipment manufacturer. We were successful in demonstrating the high quality of our products in the global OE market, achieved through continuous efforts and commitment towards R&D,” said Woo Byung-Il, Vice President of Hankook Tire’s Global OE Division. He added, “Toyota’s pursuits of high-end vehicles are widely-known, and Hankook Tire also strives for superiority. I am positive that our common ground in quality will accelerate a stronger partnership and synergy between the two companies.

With the additional supply to Toyota, Hankook has made a splendid achievement of supplying for all of the global prominent car manufacturers including Ford, GM, Volkswagen, Audi, and BMW Group.

Neu-Isenburg, Germany, - With the AH22+ Hankook is presenting an optimised ver-sion of its successful AH22 radial tyre line for trucks. This premium tyre, which was specially developed for regional traffic, makes improved performance possible in both city and overland traffic thanks to an optimised tyre structure with wider belt, reinforced bead and new tread design. The new AH22+ can be used in regional and delivery traffic on all truck and bus axles.

Frequent use in delivery traffic makes special demands on tyres: long mileages and resistance to external influences are important, with high economic efficiency also playing a key role. The convincing features of the Hankook AH22+ are its innovative interior structure, optimised tread design and new compound technology in all three areas. The reinforced and flatter design of the carcass makes a more even distribution of ground pressure possible, which, combined with the reinforced bead structure of the AH22+ guarantees a significantly longer tyre service life even under maximum load. Less tyre deformation not only reduces the tyre’s rolling resistance and meets cost-effectiveness requirements for tyres used for delivery traffic, the running smoothness of the tyre ? and thus control and driving comfort ? are also perceptibly greater.

The optimised tread design of the AH22+ ensures optimum performance in every phase of the tyre’s service life. Special zigzag grooves guarantee optimum traction even in later phases of use, and make extremely smooth running and control on a wide range of different surfaces possible, while the new shoulder block design helps to prevent impact injuries. At the same time, deep kerfs guarantee reliable braking performance. The new IMS (Innovative Mixing System) which is used for the AH22+ as for all new Hankook truck tyres makes a more even distribution of soot particles and rubber molecules possible in the tyre compound. This results in a particularly low-abrasion and wear-resistant compound mixture which increases the service life of the AH22+ compared with the predecessor tread.

We invest around five per cent per year in the research and development of our tyres. With the AH22+ we are targeting the specific needs of our customers. The premium tyre guarantees long mileages and high efficiency.” Jin-Wook Choi, Executive Vice-President of Hankook Tire and head of the company in Europe, explains.

A motorcycle helmet is a protective headgear used by motorcycle riders. The primary goal of a motorcycle helmet is to protect the rider’s head during collision or accident, thus preventing or reducing head injury or saving the rider’s life. Research and surveys concluded that helmets reduce the risk of head injury by around 69% and death by around 42%. Helmet’s purpose is to save the rider’s head from brain injuries that are more serious than skull fractures. They frequently result in death, permanent disability or personality change and, unlike bone, neurological tissue has very limited ability to recover after an injury. Therefore, the primary purpose of a helmet is to prevent traumatic brain injury while skull and face injuries are a significant secondary concern.

The conventional motorcycle helmet has two principal protective components:

1. Outer Shell: It is made up of thin, hard, made from polycarbonate plastic, fiberglass, or Kevlar. The purpose of the hard outer shell is to prevent penetration of the helmet by a pointed object that might otherwise puncture the skull, and to provide structure to the inner liner so it does not disintegrate upon abrasive contact with pavement. This is important because the foams used have very little resistance to penetration and abrasion.

2. Inner Shell: It is made up of soft, thick, inner liner usually made of expanded polystyrene or polypropylene “EPS” foam. The purpose of the foam liner is to crush during an impact, thereby increasing the distance and period of time over which the head stops and reducing its deceleration.
Types of Helmets

1. Full face helmet covers the entire head, with a rear that covers the base of the skull, and a protective section over the front of the chin. Such helmets have an open cutout in a band across the eyes and nose, and often include a clear or tinted transparent plastic face shield, known as a visor, that generally swivels up and down to allow access to the face.

2. Motocross and off-road helmet has clearly elongated chin and visor portions, a chin bar, and partially open face to give the rider extra protection while wearing goggles and to allow the unhindered flow of air during the physical exertion of this type of riding. The visor is to allow the rider to dip his head and provide further protection from flying debris during off road riding. It will also keep the sun out of the eyes of the rider during jumps.

3. Modular or “flip-up” helmet, also sometimes termed “convertible” or “flip-face”. When fully assembled and closed, they resemble full face helmets by bearing a chin bar for absorbing face impacts. Its chin bar may be pivoted upwards (or, in some cases, may be removed) by a special lever to allow access to most of the face, as in an open face helmet.

4. Open face or “three-quarters”, helmet covers the ears, cheeks, and back of the head, but lacks the lower chin bar of the full face helmet. Many offer snap-on visors that may be used by the rider to reduce sunlight glare.

5. Half helmet, also referred to as a “Shorty” in the USA and “Pudding Basin” or TT helmet in the UK. It has essentially the same front design as an open face helmet but without a lowered rear in the shape of a bowl. The half helmet provides the minimum coverage.
Some helmets provide additional conveniences, such as ventilation, face shields, ear protection, intercom etc too.

Some of the World Popular Helmet Brands
1. HJC
2. Shoei
3. Arai
4. Icon
5. Scorpion
6. Skid Lid
7. Thor
8. Bell Helmets.

Motorcycle riders, scooters, racers must choose the best helmets as per their requirements a this is the most important safety and life saving accessory for two wheeler riders.

AKRON, Ohio – The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announced several key leadership succession moves designed to continue the positive momentum in the company’s North American Tire business.John F. “Jack” Winterton has been appointed president of the company’s North American Tire consumer business unit. He succeeds Steve McClellan, who was promoted to president of Goodyear North American Tire in August 2011. At the same time, Phillip Kane has been appointed vice president of Goodyear’s North American Tire commercial tire business, succeeding Joe Copeland, who has announced he will leave the company.

I am very pleased that Jack will lead our North American consumer business,” said McClellan. “Nobody can match his combination of Goodyear experience, industry knowledge and customer perspective. As one of the architects of our North American consumer business strategy, he will drive execution within our brand-focused, market-back approach and map our plan for the future. Jack is absolutely the right person to lead us in 2012 and beyond.

Winterton, 58, has worked in Goodyear’s North American Tire business for his entire career. Most recently, he served as chief customer officer for Goodyear’s North American Tire consumer business, a role he held beginning in December 2008. Immediately prior to that, he was vice president of consumer tire sales (2003-2008) and director of dealer sales, consumer tires (2002-2003). Since 2002, Winterton has helped develop and execute the strategic direction for Goodyear’s North American Tire consumer business, which shifted its focus to producing and selling innovative, high-value branded products in targeted market segments.

For the past year, Kane, 47, has been president of Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems, Goodyear’s nationwide network of on-highway commercial tire sales, service, and retread facilities. Kane has spent his entire career in businesses related to the automotive and trucking industries. He joined Goodyear in 2004 as director of strategic initiatives before moving to director of North American Tire’s consumer wholesale distribution channel. He was promoted to senior director, channel sales in December 2008 before moving to his most recent role leading the Wingfoot operation.

Kenya is a country in East Africa that lies on the equator, with the Indian Ocean to its south-east. It is bordered by Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the north-west, Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the north-east. Kenya’s economic prospects are positive with 4-5% GDP growth expected, largely because of expansions in tourism, telecommunications, transport, construction and a recovery in agriculture.

Kenya has been one of the biggest importers of Japanese used cars, overtaking Chile and Russia since last few years. Despite major recession and its effects on Auto industry, Kenya has been buying Japanese Used Cars for their best quality, reliability and low prices. Kenya Imports more than 20,000 units annually. Demands are ever increasing with economic growth of the nation.

Kenya Import regulations:
1. Used vehicles being imported should be less than 8 years,
2. Vehicle should be RHD.
3. All used vehicles should pass JEVIC (Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center) inspection which checks vehicle for safety, and road worthiness.
4. The duty payable on the importation of a motor vehicle is as follows:
Import Duty: 25% of the CIF value of the vehicle
Excise Duty: 20% of the CIF value + Import Duty
VAT: 16% of the CIF value + Import Duty + Excise Duty
IDF: 2.25% of the CIF value or Ksh. 5,000, whichever is higher.
CIF - This is the customs value of the vehicle i.e. the Cost, Insurance & Freight paid for the vehicle.

Who are eligible to Import:
1. Citizens of Kenya have resided outside Kenya for at least two years during which period you should not have visited Kenya for an aggregate of more than 90 days.
2. Importer must have personally owned and used the motor vehicle for at least twelve months.
3. He/she must have attained the age of eighteen years.
4. He/she must process a driving license.

Who can export best used cars from Japan:
Japanese vehicles industry is one of the biggest industries in the world because of their high quality, performance and reliability. More than 50,000 used cars are exported every month from Japan to many countries like Kenya, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Zambia, Dubai, South America etc.

Hundreds of used car exporters are ready to export from Japan to any destination. With online purchase system importing used vehicles from Japan has become easier. You just need to carefully choose the most reliable exporter for this job.

Tips to choose the most reliable exporter:
1. Go through all details mentioned on the website like: Company info, establishment year, physical address, used cars dealer registration number, membership of reputed exporters associations etc.
2. Verify all information on the website: Physical address and telephone or emails by sending email enquiry and calling at their Japanese registered telephone number.
3. Ask for Police verification and registration documents or checked with help of Japan Embassy, chamber of commerce or JETRO office in your country or your country’s Embassy in Japan.
4. If the company is member of well known auction houses and reputed exporters associations like JUMVEA, JETRO, Chambers of Commerce, this will be a plus point for trust and worthiness.
5. Please be very careful when the price mentioned are really very low, frauds usually invite the buyers with very low quotes and after collecting payment and they disappear.
6. Check how regularly the stock on website is updated? This will indicate the frequency of business. How active and responsive the used car exporter is?
7. Ask for reference and feedback of buyers from your country who already bought vehicle from the exporter whom you are going to deal with.

Now you can check stocks and choose your car and your exporter will do the remaining job for you.

Michelin is preparing to launch two new sizes within its innovative CerexBib range of combine harvester tyres. The new tyres, manufactured using Michelin’s patented Ultraflex technology, are purpose-designed for the largest machines expected to be delivered to customers in 2012.

The first of these new dimensions, IF (Improved Flexion) 800/70 R 38 CFO (Cyclic Field Operation), will be launched into the UK market in January 2012, with the second size, IF 900/60 R 38 CFO, following in May 2012.

The new tyres are being launched in direct response to equipment manufacturers designing even heavier machines. In 2012, the maximum conveyor capacity is expected to increase to 14,500 litres, compared with 11,500 litres in the previous year. In the eight years between 2003 and 2011, conveyor capacity has nearly doubled from 6 tonnes to 11 tonnes.

With a diameter of 2.05 metres, the two new CerexBib tyres offer high ground clearance, thereby enabling farmers to harvest in extreme soil conditions. Each tyre’s larger footprint also helps to deliver enhanced traction and allows farmers to improve front grip when harvesting on sloped ground.

Laurent Mozziconacci, Michelin’s UK Product Marketing and Technical Manager, says: “Harvester manufacturers continue to introduce more powerful, heavier and wider equipment to improve harvest productivity. But the demand for more efficient harvesters has drawbacks for farmers and contractors, who have to factor in soil compaction, load capacity and traffic regulations.

CerexBib tyres have already gained a reputation for easing travel for combine harvesters by road. The new tyres allow manufacturers to fit even narrower sized tyres than offered elsewhere on the market. For example, the new CerexBib IF 800/70 R 38 CFO has a greater load capacity than a conventional 900/60 R 38 tyre. As a result, manufacturers can optimise harvester size without exceeding a width of 3.5 metres – the critical point at which European Union regulations stipulate that wider harvesters have to be escorted on the road. With CerexBib, farmers no longer need an escort.
